      Jane if you had watched the whole thing from the start a few weeks ago you would understand the plot.You are probably too young to remember the original series back in the 70's.Prefere this time round though and it is nice to see the mines,footpaths,and sea views we visited last September and we just missed the filming:snork:

      We're about a third of the way through the film Metropolis at the moment. Considering how old it is, its still impressive

        I just watched 'Lincoln'. What an absorbing watch! Daniel Day-Lewis puts on a masterful performance in the title role. It's all centered around the 13th amendment, the act to abolish slavery. Definitely worth a watch, if a little long.

          Sir Daniel Day-Lewis actually! One of the true greats IMO.

          This week I watched two films from the eighties about nuclear war;
          The first one, Testament is a classic. It starts of like a dire made for TV melodrama about nice small town America and then the bombs drop. No big mushroom clouds or special effects, just the reality of their existence as all that they knew is gone and radiation poisoning slowly claims their lives................

          The second, Miracle Mile, is less of a classic but still good. An online review said...........
          "A virtually unknown and unsung movie, Miracle Mile stars Anthony Edwards as a young man who receives a panicked phone call that warns him WWIII is less than an hour away. He spends the rest of the movie trying to find the love of his life—whom he recently met—before the end comes. Some parts are just plain silly, and parts of the movie scream 1980s schlock, but the build-up works well."

          Neither film had a happy ending.

            On a TV theme, I've just started watching the first couple of series of Spooks. Just silly no-brainer watching but it has the advantage of Keeley Hawes :wub2:

                Watched "Far From the Madding Crowd" on Wednesday (slow, but a pleasant way to laze away an afternoon) and then "The Theory of Everything" on Thursday. Now that one was equally slow, but far more entertaining/witty :)

                    I watched The Girl in the Cafe, mainly because 2 of my favourite actors, Ken Stott and Bill Nighy were in it, disappointing ending.
