Your lupins are cracking Woo - I have tried three years in a row to get lupins to establish in my garden, and I get no more than one season out of them and they are gone. Shame, because I really like lupins

FC I grew lupins from seed two years ago - only one left now !

Just risked sitting out in the garden this afternoon for a little drink .
It was bloomin' freezing :gaah: No sun , air temp low and a strong wind = borderline frostbite ! :snork:

I've had some overwintered stuff outside for a while now, got a couple of bananas etc. and a brug, passion flowers, gingers, onions, beetroot, as couple of orchids (cymbidiums).
Toms are in the cold frame, and have been for more than a week, with full ventilation during the day.

I tend to find the wind to be the deciding factor, as it blows most things with large leaves over.

I give up! I've just seen my weather forecast for the rest of the week. Wet, windy and cold with a maximum temperature of 10C. :doh:There's no hope of me getting plants out of the greenhouse in these conditions, I might just as well bin them!

Hmmm, this really has been a difficult season so far up here in Scotland. Very warm for part of April so everything roared into growth far too early and then Baltic. Loads of damage to many flowering shrubs, herbaceous, fruit trees, even Beech hedge. Tomatoes are in the unheated greenhouse post started in a heated propagator. Are looking very stressed with twisted stems, rolled up leaves due to suffering cold nights (not below freezing tho). Dahlias started in greenhouse and now about 2 ft tall. Need to go out but so cold and wind fierce they wouldn't flourish atm. Forecast not great so fed up:cry3:.......not quite that bad. Greenhouse bulging but for the foreseeable everything is staying IN!

Silu, could you do me a big favour please.
I see you have mentioned " rolled up leaves ", could you please have a look at my post on Pests, diseases etc from Monday night. Are your leaves anything like mine ?

                        Thanks

We planted up all our seedlings into pots just over a week ago and are in the greenhouse.
However in our enthusiasm and blank minds we thought hanging lobelia would be nice in from of summer bulbs which are in 2 troughs.
We planted them up and they were barely just 30 mm tall (1 3/4 inches ,just in old money). It then dawned on us we should not of planted them into troughs yet especially as they had not even been hardened off!!
An experiment we decided:cool: and left them. They are growing really strong which just goes to show really how hardy they are. Mind you one night of frost and they will be gone. This Tuesday & Wednesday around 1-4 am they say feels like 2 degrees due to the wind so that will be a test.
The rest will be hardened off and planted in June, mind you we did once have snow in June!!:frown:
