    It seems to like shade...the, now faded, flowers are pinkish-purple, and it's the easiest plant to look after (I ignore it, and it's always been fine).

      I sort of half agree Silver Surfer.
      When was this pic taken Jeff, Spirea is more or less only now starting to flower and carries on all summer.

          So are those dead flower heads from last year? If they are then yes I would say it's a Spirea.
          You really need to cut them off now though.

              That's a greyhound, isn't it? I used to be a bit wary of them but I've discovered that their true nature is as gently and soppy as you could ever wish a dog to be.

              Based on my limited exposure to them at least (we have two cats, no dogs).
