Help!:help: My little cactus is looking really wilted. I had it as a cutting with 2 leaves (one in the soil and 2 coming out of it) and now it has grown considerably with new leaves coming on a fortnightly basis which is great :) However, the lady who gave it to me told me to just use plain soil from the garden.....it looks really compacted and I wondered if it needed to be re-potted in some form of compost? I have lots of multi-purpose at home if this is any good?
Also, will anymore leaves appear from the base as I fear it will go over with the weight of lots of leaves just coming from the single one in the soil! Apart from that its still growing - 7 new leaves came on it last week!!!:wow:

Don't be worried, the leaves sometimes shrivel up when they are about to flower or putting energy into something like that. They actually like to be root confined as they are epiphytes in nature. I have an easter cactus growing outside that wilts before it flowers.. yet by the end of summer it is fully happy again.

    Don't use garden soil.
They are epiphytic, so need something free draining.
Add perlite, fine bark, or leafmould if you can.

Or you can use the multipurpose as a base, some loam(JI 2 or 3), and then the drainange as above
