Really really tiny .there that small.you can't really see what shape they are ...when I built decking close to the bush there were stringer off shots coming up between the wood ...it really does go wild if I don't keep it hard pruned back

Well it's not a symphorcarpus as it does not bear white fruit like in the photo ..... if you look my 1st photo you can see the tiny little buds on the stems of the bush ....

Just had a look at my Snowberry and I'd put money on that is what it is. Somewhat invasive but an ok shrub in the right spot. Has very small pale pink flowers a bit later in the season than now, well that's from memory anyway which could be somewhat unreliable! and then white berries in Autumn. Very easy to accommodate and mine is growing very close to a LARGE golden Yew. Most shrubs wouldn't cope with the conditions but Snowberry does.

From the photo it looks as tho the shrub has been pruned? Maybe, depending on if and when it's pruned the flowers and thus the berries have been pruned off. That's my best effort:). Silver Surfer is THE BEST at identification, if I'm wrong she will find you the right answer I'm sure.

That pretty much looks like Symphoricarpos to me. They can be late flowering and are good for bees so that would fit. I would suggest it is not S. albus though, it has smaller leaves, maybe S. doorenbosii.
Don't be too keen to prune it this year then eh, and you should get some berries on it.

I can honestly say there have never been berries on the bush ... I don't live in the house anymore and so I am trying to identify it so I can grow another one .... I loved the amount of bees that went on it come aug Sept ... but honestly even when left it never sprouted berries

There are a few varieties of it to choose from , I would suggest you purchase Symphoricarpos doorenbosii then.
There are white or pink berried varieties to choose from.

I've been looking at the leaf shape of honeysuckle and it has more of a point on them than Snowberry below. I still think it's snowberry. :)

@Silver surfer would there be male and female plants which could explain the absence of the berries please?
