      Mine are shaded in the afternoon too, but the sun is stronger here. I should think they would do fine. They don't need to be actually in a pond either - I believe a bog garden will do or just very moist soil. Mine are in more water than they really like I think. There are lots of colours to chose from. I was enchanted by seeing them in flower at Wisley one year and still have ambitions to grow some of the superb ones I saw there. :)

          Realised today that my "new" clematis is exactly the same as one I bought last year, even planted them side by side...doh. impulse buy.

          Meconopsis Betonicfolia are coming on nicely, these were self collected seed sown in Autumn 2013, can't wait! Got about 40 of them, not bad considering they are a fiver each in garden centres.
