What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

If it carries on Fat Controller, I could come up and give you some acupuncture. Done very little, just a bit of weeding, and admiring the newly unfurled bud of rose, For Your Eyes Only.

 

Concentrated on getting the veg patch up to date this weekend.

Pulled up the last remaining sprouting broccoli (once I'd untangled it from the pigeon netting, which it had grown through).
Planted out the butternut squashes, courgettes, brussels sprouts and the first sowing of sweet corn.
Sowed runner beans (direct sowing outdoors) and sowed some more radishes, lettuce and spring onions.
Pinched the tops out of the autumn sown broad beans.
Hoed in between the spuds.

In the greenhouse, sowed a couple more cucumbers, some pumpkins and some basil. Strung up the tomato plants. Found several dead chafer beetles, every year about this time they turn up in my greenhouse, some dead, some alive. No idea why.

 

48 hours recovery @fat controller ! You know where I'm coming from.

 

I think I'm heading off to join FC and merleworld in the 'broken corner' Just got in from a 12 hour shift and feeling so totally exhausted, I'm having a cuppa while I muster up the strength to water the containers, new planted beds and greenhouse..

Was looking forward to some retail therapy tomorrow at the garden centre, but alas I swapped a shift with a colleague, To cut a long story short, there been a mix up and I'm marked down as working tomorrow, which actually pans out well, as somebody gone sick tomorrow, so I make the numbers up, and there's enough staff on Wednesday without me... I did tell my manager to take a bucket of water to bed tonight, as her ears will burn at 5.30am when my alarm goes off and I start cursing her and her pillows might catch alight

So retail therapy gonna have to wait until Wednesday

Had a few hours tonight so tied in clematis 'nelly moser', watered a few things and then we had a huge fire which got rid if most of the 'industrial area' prunings.
We had a big family lunch and my yiayia gave me a £25 garden centre voucher which I am going to spend tomorrow...not sure whether to get some more herbaceous perennials or some new clematis. They had a cream one which was absolutely stunning.
I've got so many plants I'm considering doing a car boot at some point.

 

Lawns cut,most of the plants in,filled troughs and baskets,still shuffling plants around the GH though most things fed and watered still avoiding the weeding

I finally manned up and chopped back 3 of my 10ft yuccas.. So I now have 5 five ft yuccas as I gave 1 to a neighbour.

Have been watching the golden orfe pond fish spawning, what a racket they make , at first I thought an otter was in the pond with all the splashing about.

They must be on some sort of fishy stimulant as theyve been at it for 20 hours !

 

Crawling around in the borders weeding and loved every minute of it,still looks like I've planted more weeds than I've taken out....then kept daring myself,shall I go get my gloves or shall I pull the nettles out bare handed didn't get stung....'much'

Grape Hyacinths? Probably with you as long as Forget-Me-Nots are with @longk! If you miss a bulb it'll multiply quickly. It took me years to get rid of them so it's down to perseverance or a bomb if you have one handy.

I wouldn't prune the shrub until you know what it is, I can't tell without a close up so I'll have a look in id when you post another picture.

 

Potted on tumbling toms, sowed more nigella and pricked out some cosmos purity and what I think are asters.
