    Hello,

I recently bought 2 Acers and planted them in large pots by my front door. Pretty quickly one of them started to wither and the leaves started to curl up and dry. Soon after the other has started to do the same.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks. [IMG][IMG]

Oh they don't look at all happy. Is the area in full sun or exposed to cold winds? What compost did you use?

They're in multipurpose compost. They are in the sun for the best part of the day.

Could be leaf scorch from the sunlight.
My acers are in ericaceous compost, but I don't think the soil type would make that much difference. I would probably move them to somewhere more sheltered and see if that helps.
My OH's gran moved mine to a more open place on the patio and some leaves have been scorched by the wind and sun. Safe to say I've moved it back!

Thanks. Can they tolerate shade? :)

In my experience they prefer a shady spot - mine just get a few hours early morning sun and then are in shade for the rest of the day.

They don't need ericaceous compost, multi purpose is fine.
