I reckon that is Ground Elder - an absolute bar-steward of a thing to get rid of too. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members of the gang will be along shortly to confirm and advise how best to proceed

You might want to try something like SBK Brushwood Killer - its a tad more muscular than roundup

Try using the Round-up and then covering the elder in plastic Apple Blossom, it should help to 'suffocate' it.

I have heard of folk eating it and the constant picking has depleted the plant.

It's not very nice to eat though

Hi Sheal, the problem I've got its everywhere you look, and to be honest it's getting me down a bit, I dig over and over having watch it welt for weeks with roundup picking out for hours on end any roots I find and low and behold it's back. I'm worried about putting new plants in the area so it's a big hold up! :gaah:

Get stuck into it with the SBK and fingers crossed you'll get rid

The problem is, if any roots are missed then it will re-grow, so you must keep spraying. Perhaps it's time to take up FC's idea and try a stronger killer.

Maybe that's the answer as I don't fancy eating it yuk :snork: ! With this being a new garden to me I never know what's going to pop up, will the SBK kill everything or as roundup am I just spraying the foliage and protecting everything in the surrounding area?

I sympathise with you @Apple Blossom, I have weeds galore in my garden - why are they always the fastest to grow and the slowest to get rid of?!

It's a constant battle @SusieD, I've worked really hard in an area, sat admired it, felt great... :yes:Then start a new area for a week or so and the first area looks like I've not touched it again .... maybe that's s bit exaggerated  it's just so frustrating, but tomorrow is a new day so boxing gloves on!! Not one for giving up that easily
