Woke up this morning to torrential rain, sort of needed in the garden but not the "cats and dogs" type we've got.
I poked my nose out of the French doors only to see to my horror that the rain has broken 3 FLOWERING stems of my most OTT Tree Peony. I could cry, the flower buds were just opening and I suppose the weight of the rain in them has snapped the stems. I had the plant staked as well but not far up the stems obviously. The flowers when they open fully are bigger than dinner plates, but hey I do have 3 buds left....atm that is.

That's my "disaster" (not quite!) of the week. Do others have tales of woe too?:)
PS the photo is of a bloom form a couple of years ago.

You're quite correct @wiseowl, living up to your name. In comparison to the horrors that face so many everyday my "disaster" is a piddle in the ocean:).

Absolutely no apologies necessary @wiseowl :grphg:. I did qualify my original post with disaster in quotes! After a long list of swear words spoken, I made myself a strong cup of coffee and stuck the 3 broken branches in a vase. We all enjoy our gardens and try hard to make then the best we can but for the vast majority of us it's just a hobby and part of the attraction is to me anyway, attempting to beat the adversities sent to try us be they weather ,wild animals in my case, insects or a myriad of other annoyances.
Be assured no offence taken whatsoever, you don't personally know me or I you mores the pity but I'm not easily offended and certainly not over a few flowers. Now if someone was mean to my Daughter or any of our animals that would be a completely different kettle of fish:):)

Oh what a shame :( Hopefully the remaining buds will survive. The picture is lovely!

My lawn weedkiller and aphid spray are in identical green bottles. I bet you can guess what's happened.
