Hmmmmmm.... plant or weed...... ID needed.

Oh eck, think I might have made a booboo. Can anyone tell me if this is weed, or plant?

 

No, it's a wildflower, Buttercup, but i could be wrong!

 

Looks like the many buttercups I have all over my garden.... But could be wrong

 

Thank you all for your replies. Like you @wiseowl I think it's pretty, but where it is, is being turned to lawn later in the year, and the plants are being rehomed elsewhere in the garden. I potted it up once I took it out, so will keep it going (fingers crossed) in the greenhouse, until I'm ready to relocate it in a more approriate place in the garden. Thanks again all. xx

 

Creeping Buttercup

 

I'm with you there FC! A nightmare of a weed, literally creeping through the lawn and taking over. Which reminds me......my front lawn needs to be shown the Verdone again!

 

That's because it's an invasive weed

Seriously though Joolz, make sure that you kill it (really make sure, be certain, definitely, no doubt at all dead) before you lay the area to lawn. That includes all roots of any kind of substance. The damned stuff spreads through root runners. I bought plague and pestilence down on it here and it just stuck two fingers up at me and moved to the lawn instead.

 

It has got a hold of the small border it's in, so I think I may have to heed your words and try my best to eliminate it. I will never have a decent lawn unfortunately. I'm quite rural, and the garden is surrounded by farmers fields, as such, I have a large issue with moles! lol.. Not helped by the fact that one of my cats Luna, goes into said fields, catches the buggers and brings them home; only for them to burrow into the lawn!

 

Hi, it-spreads by runners, don't worry about seed heads if you're anything like me you'll be dealing with it for ever more good luck x
