I don't know much about this sort of work but is there any software that does allow you to select the background?

Yep thats the software im using

You need a high contrast between the background and the item to be able to do it easily. The pictures taken were styled shots and never intended for cut outs so therefore i didnt need a high contrast to be able to do this work.

Anyway i got them done and they went off the magazine a week a go :-)

I used to do a little of this sort of work with photos during my Scrapbook phase ... if you don't have a high contrast, you need to really zoom in (and I mean really zoom). Your screen shot shows it at only 16.7% so you have a huge amount of wiggle room and zooming in will make it much, much easier :blue thumb:

so people and the news are annoying me

The whole Caitlyn Jenner transformation is brilliant and amazing and is great for raising awareness of transgender issues. Unfortunately people seem to think that everything is a competition and think their causes or what other people are doing is more important and that Caitlyns transition isn't news worthy and helps no one and i'm sick of it so here is a rant.

Now more than ever it seems people are fighting for lots of different causes and raising awareness of lots of different problems. We have come a long long way when it comes to racism, sexism, sexuality, gender, disability, body image etc but we still have a long way to go. I think its great that people are talking about the problems that still exist within society and wanting to fix them.

What i don't think is great is the way people make it a competition. Everyone seems to have compare each others struggles and something always has to be worse than something else or less important. I wish we could ensure people are educated about what has happened in the past so we can learn from the mistakes and get rid of ignorance without promoting hatred over past mistakes.

I also wish that everyone one could realise that we all go through struggles in life and just because you don't understand someone else's struggle that doesn't diminish it or mean it doesn't exist.

To promote the causes we care about and to make change we shouldn't need to put down other peoples battles and fights. At the end of the day we need to remember that the grass always seems greener on the other side but the reality is normally a different story. Those of us who want to make changes to our society for the better shouldn't be in competition with each other over which cause is greater because they are all important.

          Rant over! Sorry
