Thank you all, for your very kind and thoughtful comments about my Simmy.

I've spoken to one of the Surgeons, and they are pleased with how the operation went. His dislocated leg, is still holding well, since they put it back in place yesterday, so that's really good.
They've put an iron pin through his tibia and it's held internally with wire. They've put the frame on the inner part of his leg, so it won't snag on bedding and the cage as easily as if it was on his outer part. I'm sure there is a word for this, but I don't know it. This should be in situ for around 8 weeks or so.
They didn't recommend that I went to see him tonight, as he only came out of surgery about 5, so even though he's come out of the anesthetic well, he'll still be a bit groggy. I don't want to impede any good work they've done today, by making him distressed as he's not able to come out of his pen, so would possibly only get upset by seeing us and not being able to be fussed or come out. His recovery is much more important than my giving him a cuddlle, even though I so desperatly want too, his health comes first.

To coin the term that the Surgeon used about him eating after he'd come round. "He inhaled his food!" lol.. So, that's brilliant that he was so hungry. If he goes on ok through the night, and tomorrow during the day, all being well he'll be home tomorrow night.
He's got to have complete cage rest or about 4/6 weeks, can only come out whilst I clean his cage, change the litter etc. Maybe after about 2 weeks he can come out for 5 or 10 mins, to stretch his body.
It's going to be a long recovery, but he will recover. There is always the slight risk that he could re-break his leg, as it was so badly broken, but it's not an often occourance, but the risk will be there for some time.

I can't tell you how releived I am that he came out of the operation ok. He's such a tiny thing, but has the will of an ox. Bless him.

I've to ring them by 11 tomorrow, if I've not been called before then, and will hopefully know then if he can come home.

Thank you all so much for your very kind comments, they mean such a lot to me. Keep your fingers crossed that I can bring him home tomorrow. His brother is missing him terribly too..

It really is brilliant. I've been so worried, so the relief tonight is immense. I feel like I could sleep standing up.
It is, and I am so pleased for him. They've all fallen in love with him at the hospital as he's been a total fusspot, despite being broken and in pain.

Awww @Beckie76 Bless you chick. He must have been ravenous, poor mite. I can't wait to have him home, and its going to take an iron will of my own to not hug him. He'll be too fragile for huggles just yet I'd imagine. Just having him home and giving him chin rubs and tickles will have to suffice. :cat-kittyandsmiley: AF1CatAblackwhiteHL.gif

How on earth did I miss this thread? So sorry to hear that your wee man has been in the wars - the saving grace is that he is getting the right attention from the vets, and has the best home a cat could ask for to come back to. Hope he gets well soon

Hello @Joolz, I have just logged onto the forum and read about the terrible incident with Simian. I am so very sorry and hope that the little soul is through his surgery now. I think that is a fabulous idea that @Dips had re the bag when he is feeling a little better. I am sending love, light and healing vibes to heal Simian and to comfort you. I'm thinking of you. Please update us when you are able x x x
