Thanks Anthony. In fact its some way from my house its at the bottom of the garden where it gets most sun. The logical place would be the back of the house, but that is in shade most of the day.

            Loving it @PeterS !

Once again, Sues has survived the winter outdoors!

Here I was just pleased that this Mackaya bella survived the greenhouse freeze but now I'm stunned that it is in bloom so early.............

The larger plant which was also in the greenhouse really looked as goner but started to come back from the roots a few weeks ago. Even more surprising is Sues which was treated appallingly and left out all winter - new shoots started to emerge from the roots last weekend!

Nice pictures LongK - that Lantana is prickly isn't it. Mine have done nothing so far. That Canna is amazingly fast to flower from seed. Except for one bloom, my Canna have done nothing so far.

Your comment about Thunbergia gregorii surviving outside amazed me and reminds me how much frustratingly colder Yorkshire is than places down south. Your Clianthus seeds have made nice small plants, thank you - and I was reading that Clianthus has been grown outside in London and Devon - but certainly not here.

Stephanotis jasminoides has been flowering for so long that I have completely overlooked it. Its not that arresting as the flowers are small, and I haven't been able to detect any scent. But all the same I like 'long flowering'.

Thunbergia grandiflora. This had a couple of blooms on it 2 or 3 weeks ago, but no more since. I am not even sure when it should flower. The blooms are larger than the other perennial Thunbergias, which in turn are larger than the more common T. alata - usually grown as an annual.

Prickly as in fussy? I've found it easy - encourage it into growth in the greenhouse in spring then give it a sunny sheltered spot outdoors.

Do't you believe it! Being so far inland here we are frequently quoted as the UK low overnight. I'm certainly surprised by T.gregorii although as it is so late to come back I'm not sure that it is any way to treat it.

Certainly experiment. The biggest issue is that the flower buds start forming in the autumn.

Made harder to judge by the artificial climate I guess?

Did I tell you a recently received a Deppea splendens? :hapydancsmil:

I had to look that one up - fabulous. But you are keeping us all in suspense without showing a picture.

No Prickly as in prickles that draw blood. Did you know that Roses don't have thorns - they have prickles. A thorn is a modified branch with a sharp pointed spine, but a prickle is a growth on the stem.

You did :yay:. Oh well I didn't until a couple of days ago. :dunno:

It's just a metre high at the moment. Hopefully later this year.
A contact in SoCal has just harvested me seed from his two plants as well :heehee:

I had no idea so I just checked - need the soddin' tweezers now

Spent Sunday night picking them out of my hands!
