I personally dont know but a close up picture of the leaves and flowers may help other members identifiy it quicker

Hard to tell without a close up, but I am wondering if it could be a buddleia? Bit early for flowering though.

Welcome to GC :sign0016: - I am sure one of the resident experts will be along soon to help :)

      Morning!
Here's a closeup. When we moved in we were told it's an elder tree, but we're not sure. [IMG]

The Cherry laurel has much larger oval shaped leaves which are a paler green and the flower panicles, shorter which grow upright.
You have the Portugese laurel with smaller, darker foliage more ovate in shape and longer flower racemes which hang down.
              Hope this helps. :)

Yes Scillonian is right, it's Portuguese laurel (not really a laurel, but actually an evergreen member of the Cherry family).

              Prunus lusitanica

Thanks scillonian, that description certainly sounds like I've got a Portuguese laurel. Appreciate the info

Actually, a quick google suggests mine is the cherry laurel, as the flowers were upright

I have both in planters and much prefer the Portuguese Laurel. That's a lovely 'tree shape' you've got there :blue thumb:
