No, they were already down on that side. The other half, however certainly makes up for the covered side
I even have my very own bee nest in the shed, so I cant touch that for a while.
Started clearing the ground a couple of days ago. Heading up there later to build some compost boxes.

Got mine planted yesterday, not in the position I'd planned as I ran out of time to dig that area over. So I used a couple of the raised beds. Four Atlantic Giants, 3 with make-shift plastic protection for a week or two:

It's a good idea to have spares, last year I planted in four positions, 2 plants in each so eight in total. Quite quickly I pulled one in each position, leaving the strongest plant. I later culled a whole plant to reduce it to three and grew those on.

                  Steve...:)

Mine are not doing very well at the allotment, it's been too dry for them, I really need to water them a bit more:

I gave them a really good soaking today, first time I've used a hose at the allotment, there is much better water pressure than at home.

I took the covers of these two plants two days ago now, and marked where they had grown to with a cane in the ground, the smaller plant has grown about 12 inches whilst the bigger ones growth is more like 14-15 inches, in two days!! It never ceases to amaze me how fast these plants actually grow. Both plants are roughly 4 foot or so.

I have a third plant that is still under cover at present as that structure is much bigger, so no photo's of that as yet.

                            Steve...:)
