Has anyone considered a novelty alternative to cane and wire as a support for flowers and plants as part of your garden design? If so what have you used?

        Hi David,
Welcome to GC, knowing this lot on here you'll get some right weird and wonderful answers :)

I haven't personally but I do use things like old saucepans (with the handles taken off) and enamel coffee/tea/sugar containers to keep plants in in my kitchen as it keeps the whole kitchenalia theme going.

Tried to find photos, but no such luck with the frame.

Anyway, I used an upside-down old whirligig clothes dryer (the frame only) for growing plants up.

I've used wine bottles as border edging.

Hi M. Only partly. A friend of mine has been looking for an alternative to standard cane, wire and trellis but wanted a particular theme and hasn't been able to find anything. I work from home so said I'd throw the question out there and see what other gardeners were doing.

                Aha! :ideaIPB: I see.
Ok, well, in that case, I'd suggest grabbing yourself a coffee and a snack, then ...

... check out Pinterest! There is so much inspiration there (hence my bottle garden and recycled hose ;) ) and, being visual, it's faster to sift through to spot the ideas which grab you best.

Then you can report back

What particular theme was your friend looking for? (Curious mind wishing to know :) )
