Thank you Anthony - that particular one didn't self seed, it was a gift, generously given by a kind soul :)

Thanks everyone for your kind responses. :) Against all the odds in a sandy soil, the roses are doing quite well.

@Jenny namaste, I think Lucky! is probably my favourite too. It's a floribunda and the colour is actually lilac pink. It puts on a good performance right through summer and seems to be a very healthy rose. :)

Great Roses Sheal, they look really lovely and so healthy. Glad to see good old fashioned Iceberg doing what it does best...giving a wonderful display. I don't think despite all their efforts that the Rose breeders have managed to produce a better white Rose than Iceberg. I'm no Rose expert and if they have managed to create something better I stand corrected and would be interested to know what the variety is called.

Thanks Silu. :) I agree about Iceberg, it is the whitest of roses and I don't think I've seen another one that matches it. The only problem I have with it is the fact that Iceberg is naturally a climber and the one I have is a shrub that wants to be a climber. The stems are quite slender and struggle to hold the flowers and later in the season it becomes quite tall, so that when flower stems are finished I prune them back quite hard ready for the next flush of flowers.

In the summer the sun rises in the North East and shines into our front garden (faces due North). This morning's spotlight :blue thumb: - taken through my front window.
