The money raised for Kalimpong (they're a group of people who have lots of fund raising events) is taken by our neighbours directly to the orphanage.

We have some other friends who raise money for homes for disabled children, in the wilds of India. Our friend (who had cancer), and others, run charity marathons and raise about £40,000 each year. Our friend then goes out there and cycles round the villages distributing the money directly to the homes. She doesn't carry the money with her but withdraws it from the bank in each area. She's known as Mamma Jenny as she cycles round on her pink bike. There's always an escort of a group of locals and they pass her from one group to the other on her travels. Jenny is in her mid-sixties :blue thumb:

Giving money directly to local charities is always the best thing. That's what we do with the money raised at our Open Garden. The £4,000+ is used directly to help the children as all the admin is done by volunteers.

Good Morning all, going to be another lovely day I think. The antihistamines are obviously helping Amber she is not coughing quite so much.

Have a good day everyone, no overdoing those backs.
        God bless. :wub2:

                Aloha everyone,

@wiseowl I'm always in that state. It's just that my body doesn't always get the message :heehee:

A hot and sticky day yesterday made for not doing too much outside so I, finally, started to get my finger out and continue with Shiney's Travels. I usually get most of this done during the winter period but wasn't really well enough for a few months.

                http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/...ts-mountains-and-volcanoes.83693/#post-950658

A link to a lot of other travel threads is at the start of each thread. :dbgrtmb:

I've just finished Kauai and am heading back to Big Island :)

First thing yesterday we took Mrs Shiney's car (15 years old) for its service and MOT. I then went with her to set up her display at the charity coffee morning and open garden, had a quick walk around the garden (twice the size of ours) and then went off to town to do lots of shopping for the weekend. People coming and food to sort out.

We got a phone call from the garage that her car is poorly. The brake pressure cylinder is kaput! Fortunately he can still get the part so it should be fixed today - with a bit of luck.:fingers crossed:

Last weekend we had the Village Festival and this week we have a circus on the village green. Circuses and fairs have been coming to the village regularly for hundreds of years :blue thumb:

Keep well and have a great day

                Aloha!

                  Good morning all,

Shiney sorry to hear H's car is poorly, it is same age as mine but I expect she has done more mileage than me.........I only did 200 miles last year. I finally got a handyman with a Henry to tackle all of Ambers hairs. We agreed £10 to hoover the car out but he worked so hard on it and did a brilliant job that I gave him £15. Well worth it to me. Now I have to get the new covers fitted. That is another job I may farm out! I do feel if I have the money why not spend it on making my life that bit easier.

I had a bad night and my joints are particularly painful this morning. I had a lot of cramp during the night even after taking a quinine sulphate tablet last night. I also suffer from the high pollen count and had to take antihistamines around 4 am this morning.
I hope everyone is ok and no poorlies around. Do look after yourselves. God bless. :wub2:

                    Aloha everyone,

It was a scorcher yesterday and is on the way to another one today.

My car had its service and passed its MOT yesterday :blue thumb:. We then went to set up Mrs Shiney's craft stall at a charity event that's on this weekend. A friend is womanning the stall today as Mrs Shiney is teaching.

I'm chief cook and bottle washer as usual. Lots of food to sort out :phew: :)

Keep well and have a great day

                    Aloha!
