What ridiculous, silly prices! My homebrew wine costs about 33p/bottle, or I buy reduced packs of beer/cider/lager for a fraction of those prices, for example, a few of the 41 reduced price cans I bought yesterday for example, Strongbow @ 24p/can and Theakstons Black Sheep @ 31p/can, 75% off just because the plastic yokes are missing/broken and the cans have been bound with sellotape:

The prices are for 11.2-fluid-ounce beers—the standard in Europe—so prices for regular 12-ounce American beers had to be normalized to the cost of 11.2 ounces. GoEuro converted the prices to a single currency using the Bloomberg exchange on June 12.

What the hell are they on about,
      We use pints over here.

But the bottles are getting smaller by the day, wont be long before the supermarket stuff is down to those stupid little 250ml bottles they use on the continent.

11.2 Fluid OUNCES - hasn't Europe gone metric yet?

So its 20 fluid ounces to the pint ? So these prices are for half pints ? Prices can get very silly in big cities . When we were in Rome my motto was don't sit at cafe tables with table cloths - that doubles the price off alcohol ! When in Venice , don't even think of sitting down !

I just get the feeling its an American site.
Nobody has dictated to them they must go metric, like we have been.

Anyway, not sure their fluid ounces are the same as ours used to be.
I know their pint and gallon was smaller.

Fluid ounces is a stupid unit to use for measuring alcoholic beverages as the the weight of a pint or half pint will vary according to the alcohol content, so is illogical for use with anthing other than water.

In Italy the same thing goes for coffee. Sit at the bar and it's nearly half the price!

Re the article: you can make any result you want to by picking your statistics! :heehee:

The one on the right is closest but overestimated whereas the one on the left has underestimated by over 5%. That's something you don't see often.

Those prices seem to be rather innacurate to me. Beer here in Sweden is expensive. A 500cl bottle costs around £1.68 (£40.32 per case of 24) in the state run off licences. Swedish prices are not shown, but the exact same beer in Germany would cost €8.40 (£5.94 or $9.33) for a case of 24 at normal prices. not reduced. Thats the same as paying €0.35 or 0.25p or $0.38. Hardly the price they claim for Berlin!

Cant understand the reason someone puts such incorrect info online.

You obviously haven't read the Daily Mail in this country. :heehee: Accuracy isn't taken into account when writing articles that will catch the eye. :noidea: It's all to sell their product.

I thought the only use for the Daily Mail was to tear into squares to put on the nail in the privvy... :snork:

Do people actually buy it to read?

I'm not sure a fluid ounce had anything to do with weight, it was a volume measurement.
I've still got a jug with fluid ounces marked on it.
It was the same whatever you were measuring.
