Had a childhood holiday there about 50 years ago, only remember the beach (where we'd wander along of an evening finding all sorts of stuff left behind) and narrow gauge railway (which still seems to be running).

                Fabulous beach. :blue thumb:

Did you come across Doctor Syn? :heehee:

I think they have a Doctor Syn festival there on August bank holidays on even numbered years. They're also discussing having a big statue to him (as The Scarecrow) on Romney Marsh.

For those of you that don't know, he was a character (based in Dymchurch Under-The-Wall')in a series of novels written between 1915 and 1944. There have been three films made, including a Disney one, stage plays and television and radio series about his life. I think that Peter Cushing played him in one of the films and Patrick McGoohan played him in the Disney version.

I had lunch with him, back in the '80's ... well, when I say I had lunch with him ... I was on a PAYE course and had luncheon for one at a restaurant and he was on the next table also having luncheon for one :heehee: I recognised him but thought it would be tacky and intrusive to do the whole: "OMG! Is it *you*!!??" malarkey. So, I've put it down (with a little stretch of imagination) that we shared a companionably silent lunch together :roflol:
