It has clouded over but not thick, heavy cloud. Sun peeps out now and then and it's really rather nice,

@fat controller Don't you have airconditioning in your cab? :hate-shocked:

Another 1.3C on top of that and I'd go on strike! That would be 100F :yikes: There's no way you can have proper concentration on heavy traffic conditions in those temperatures. :nonofinger:

I don't really drive them that much any more - I get all the pressures of being a manager instead, however I did drive a few hours in service today as we had a few staff shortages caused by the heat, and ironically the decker I had did not have air conditioning. Most, if not all, of our fleet is supposed to have it fitted but sadly it proves to be remarkably unreliable on fare stage vehicles (coaches aren't as badly affected as they are not stop start), and at this time of year there is more faults than the air conditioning contractors can keep up with. The temperature in the cab earlier was well over 100F - by the time you add in the additional heat from the vehicle itself, plus the sun shining through the windows... sadly, our great travelling public often forget that when they get on and start giving the drivers a verbal earbashing

I abandoned work at the plot a while ago when the temp reached 35 deg C outside, it was 38 deg C in a larger tunnel with doors at each end and all vents open and a brain boiling 42 deg C in a smaller tunnel.

There's no mains water there so I 've been taking car loads of water containers, 40 galls at a time, 2 or 3 trips a day. Will go back this evening when it's cooler with a rucksack full of lager or cider for a more relaxing time.

We were thinking of going camping in Dorset this week, but luckily the forecast was for rain when we made the decision to go another week as it would have been unbearable in a hot tent overnight or on an even hotter beach during the day, especially with our new pup.

Very hot and humid, it is 34c now.
OH decided we're off to the beach today of all days with a picnic etc. Thankfully there was a bit of shade from the dunes. Surprisingly enjoyable with a little breeze off the sea though still v. hot and now got rather a fetching tan on my knees which I'd forgotten to put sun goo on :snork:

But goodness what are people taking their dogs to the beach for on a day like today? some were obviously distressed. And there are lots of lovely woodland walks closeby where it would be shaded and cooler.

Hope everyone is coping ok and drinking sufficient water.

                              GG
