Following on from another thread, this thread is to follow the progress in propagating Doughtnut Nectarines from their stones.

After soaking two stones for the weekend, yesterday I cracked them open to expose the seed.

The seeds are now in moist tissue, in zip lock baggies in a sunny window. Waiting for the first sign of root growth before putting them into pots.

First time of doing this so it will be a very interesting experiment.

Will watch your thread with great interest. Eating about 15 doughnut peaches a week.

I'm out today to buy some more because they are so scrummy I can stuff my face full so I can also trial stratification and simply potting so that I have three methods to compare and contrast.

Did you put the stones in the fridge or just the seed?

Is it a good idea to remove the embryo from the seed shell?

I just put the stones in the fridge in a food bag. Will pot them up in 3/4 wks.

I haven't got the seeds out of any as I don't trust myself getting them out.

There was a news article in a certain (ridiculed) newspaper today (read it as freebie while out) about a wife and a rolling pin ... lets just say, I am of a milder disposition :heehee: unless certain hormones kick in and then maybe ... just ... maybe ... I might ... empathise :paladin: :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
