    Morning all:spinning:,

Lovely sunny start here in Berks.

Loli, have a great time. You and Mr L deserve it :blue thumb:

Did a silly thing yesterday, slicing a fresh mango, and my thumb got in the way,
I have a prominent scar from childhood on my thumb, that juts out slightly, and now
it juts out a bit less:heehee: oh me.oh my, some naughty words were uttered.:thud:

Still at least it did not need any stitches, I bound it well, and it looks ok this morning.:dbgrtmb:

Market day today, so off to see what's what, pop into Waitrose for my free coffee, and back
home to start what I have planned to do today.

Hope everyone has a good one.:imphrt:

@liliana If it was very stringy but had a lovely red and green skin then it was, almost certainly, Tommy Atkins - avoid like the plague!

Haden are more tasty, look similar to Tommy but are also a bit stringy.

The most common, non-stringy varieties in this country are Kent and Keitt. Both are quite nice but only really sweet when ripe. These are easily available in the major supermarkets.

The best mango for texture and flavour is Alphonso. Unfortunately, Alphonso were banned last year by the EU because Belgium found some fruit flies on a consignment . The ban has now been lifted but a lot of the small ethnic shops that did stock them haven't got back to getting them again.

Alphonso have a fairly distinctive appearance
          upload_2015-7-3_15-7-48.jpeg

The boxes in supermarkets (they usually put them on the shelves in their boxes) will have the variety name on the outside at one end (usually the right hand side). If there's no name then don't buy it - it's almost certainly Tommy Atkins, unless it looks like this picture.

Here endeth your mango lesson :heehee:

            Aloha everyone,

We had a wonderful storm last night. :blue thumb: Horizontal forked lightning kept lighting up the sky and the heaviest downpours we've had for a long time. I hope the rain washed off some of the aphids.

I potted on a load of Nagas yesterday. They were terribly potbound . I'll do some more today but we're having trouble finding room for them.

Keep cool and have a great day

            Aloha!

@wiseowl The storm must have affected you and given you a bit of a cold. Muggy was five days ago, the day after was Tueggy and today is Saturday. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
