Good afternoon all.I am in the planning stages of a new project The area in the photo I want to Grass/Turf but the only way is to drag the soil all over the area and level it out, including the path,it will be about 8 inches deep, the concrete path has been their since the battle of Hastings and cannot be removed, what do you think
I'm not saying this with any conviction but I'm sure you could get that concrete out pretty quickly if you hired a breaker or got someone in to do it for you? It'll make a right mess and be properly loud but you'll be able to get shut of it pretty easily and then you'll have a more or less already levelled area to start planning the turfing? Failing that, a lump hammer and a decent chisel would do it too... just take you a couple years and the most elbow grease ever! You'll have to weigh up the price of a breaking and removal vs a load of acregate and soil + the turf to make your decision.
Hi @Prkns my friend when you get to a certain mature age like yours truly 2 years is a lifetime, but I shall do it myself, and it will be ready for turfing by the Spring at the latest, but your input is very much appreciated
@wiseowl, i was being a bit tongue in cheek with that statement, i apologise You could look into getting some expanding grout potentially. I know there's a product called Bentonamit (link) that you could use which pretty much silently breaks up concrete with force. I just don't know how consumer-based this product is. It might involve a company having to bring it over and lay it onto your concrete. I'm not being much help here am i?
Hi @Prkns tongue in cheek is good my friend and no need for any apology.a sense of humour is essential in any forum ,you have been a lot of help and I thank you for your input,it is very much appreciated,we have more comedians here at Gardeners Corner(and they are worth their weight in gold) in than they have at the comedy club enjoy the rest of your day
Although eight inches of soil would be deep enough for grass, I agree with Jiffy, during a summer like you've had this year Woo, you would be forever watering and feeding it. I hate to say it but I think the paving will have to come up for it to work. Don't do yourself a mischief in the process though!
Good morning all my friends and thank you for all your comments ,on the balance of your input I am going to sit by the pond and have a rethink
Hi @shiney thank you my friend, well the first one is what I used to be like The third one is what Mrs Woo would me to be like The second one has made Mrs Woos day And this one is a true likeness
