Not as expensive as £4.49 for 5 tubers from T&M.

Bought these a while ago at a local nursery, not the cheapest place around, but then I never spend petrol trying to save a penny or two.
Also not sure the internet is always the best, one way or another.
      T&M, for gods sake;)

      6 quid.

Well, I'm certainly not at all impressed with my local garden centre's online list of seed spuds

I ended up getting a bag of PFAs reduced to £1 at Wyevale http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/wyevale-now-£1-for-seed-spuds-onion-sets-etc.95859/

They were planted about 2nd week in May down near the bottom of some sizeable bags (600mm'ish high), 3 per bag. The bags were slowly filled right to the brim and the tallest plants (including what's inside the bag) are now 4 foot tall and still growing.

Do PFAs normally grow that tall? and how many weeks from planting to cropping?

I've been thinking of staking them for a few days now, they've been OK as they're lined up against the long side of a small polytunnel, but I never expected them to get so big and luckily they're on the North side, otherwise they'd be shading it out, plus it's strawberries in the tunnel bed behind them and they'll be finishing soon, especially with Pup trying to help us pick them. I used about 200mm of well rotted muck + JAB MPC, topped up with bulb planter ejects infilled with used MPC reinvigorated with some Growmore, so didn't think I'd been over feeding them.

Looks like sledgehammer and rope to the plot tommorow.

Yes they are about the tallest of the potato varieties I grow, sometimes up to 5ft above ground!

Not entirely sure on exact weeks, they take a very long time, and are the last of the potatoes I dig up. Two years ago I planted on 10th April and dug up on 10th Nov. I think they benefit from being left in the ground as long as possible otherwise you get a lots of smaller ones which because of the lumpy shape you can't really use.

                  I always support mine.
They are ok at the moment, but any sign of heavy rain and they will flop.

Actually put a few supports around mine yesterday along with the usual washing line.
As for time from planting to cropping?
Does anyone take notice of that rubbish.
They take as long as they take.

In the end I decided to just let mine flop (or they would have shaded out the adjacent polytunnel). They do seem to be drinking rather heavily.
