Been giving mine a water can each every day.

Measured mine and they're about 1.25m

Good idea, something to maintain interest until pumpkins start to form, migh get a bit scary if using to calculated estimated growth for anothet few months, like 6 inches/day would be approx 45 feet.

Aye, but I stop the main vine after I have a fruit and a spare pollinated, this concentrates growth on the fruit and allows the side vines to fill the remaining growing space. So you would never get to 45ft....unless you really wanted to.

Coming along well Steve I still have mine under a bit of cover as we have had some really windy nights and thunder storms last few days once I get cover off I will put up a photo but it's well behind where I was last few years

still not sure what these are but hey, they're growing! Too late to move to the allotment though - so they're having to climb as no room in the garden image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Mine are starting to shift quite a bit now, this one will be over 2m by lunchtime today. It's first lateral was 800mm long earlier this morning.

Several years ago there was virtually no Summer, last year it got so cold in August that tomatoes stopped growing, and this year, until about 12th June I was in danger of getting tender stuff outside frosted. Erratic weather is making growing more and more difficult, my aged, ex-farmer FIL keeps coming out with more and more remarks like the last July's weather like this was in 192X, 194X, etc., as he's old enough to remember previous instances of crazy weather (being close to getting his telegram from The Queen).
