Good evening @Apple Blossom ,a lot of Rosarians feed their Roses in March and then July but no later, its really a personal choice,I only feed my Roses once a year now in March,if I was to use it now I would water it well ,Chicken Manure is organic matter used as organic fertilizer in agriculture. Chicken Manure contributes to the fertility of the soil by adding organic matter and nutrients, such as nitrogen, that are trapped by bacteria in the soil. Higher organisms then feed on the fungi and bacteria in a chain of life that comprises the soil food web.

To be fair, and honest, "mature" chicken manure is not quite the same thing as mature horse manure. For a start, horse manure is pure pooh, whereas, chicken "manure" is actually a blob of pooh *and* concentrated urine combined (the white part being the urine).

By all means mix it into your compost heap, let the heat do its work (which can take up to two years!) and then, when it is truly mature and all broken down into crumbly compost, use it as a mulch in the garden.

Hi Woo, I've just been talking to the friendly neighbour and he has told me it is 'fresh' which I think can't be used at the moment, so maybe I could do something with it for next year. I have had a good read of your message and will take your advice. I've just found out that my Father-in-Law used blood from the Chester slaughter house on his.... yuk!!!

Thank you Woo, I will see first how much he gives me and then follow your useful steps....Thought you might like to see phase 2 now its finished...

When we first moved in... we removed a fallen apple tree and grapevine, took all the roots out and then I treated the area for all the weeds etc...

I spent all day today preparing it.... and took more roots out... the story of my life at the moment....:heehee:

And looooook my new roses in their new bed...following your previous information on distance etc. etc..... don't they look great :dancy:

                      P1020242.JPG

I found the bricks under the rubble and grass, so cleaned them up and decided to leave them as it adds character. Without your previous help... I don't think for one minute I would have accomplished this.... It looks really lovely the photos don't do it justice...:yahoo:
