    Hi all,

Don't know if this is in the right place but here goes....

Has anyone ever grown Pieris from seed. I've noticed that this year quite a few of ours have set seed, and I wouldn't mind having a go.

    Any advice gratefully received :)

Just given my Pieris away , nice plant just got a bit bored with it. You can buy them pretty cheap on market stalls and car boot sales . If you want to grow from seed I would imagine no problem. The actual plants are as tough as old boots .

    Hi Harry,

We have 5 different ones but the ones I'm most interested in trying are "Valley Valentine", it's got beautiful deep red flowers, and "Little Heath" a variegated one. I was wondering if they would cross breed.

Very slow germinating. Best to sow, keep moist and check back in the spring or the year after!

Yes. They need a natural winter cycle to break the seed dormancy. Cold frame is fine.
