              The first flower on a hebe with a history. This was a snapped off piece (which I posted about at the time) which I pushed into compost in an unused pot. It was later joined by a piece of rosa rugosa. Only planted out back in early June (bit pot bound). So, I'm thrilled to see it is thriving after all!

                    Hi everyone,

                    I've heard about this happening but it's never happened to one of my plants before........

                    This is a pic of my Fuchsia " Helen Fahey " .
                    On the left are the normal dark flowers while on the right it has sported a branch with pale pink flowers.


                    I'm wondering whether to pursue this further as I have a contact who owns /runs a leading Fuchsia nursery.

                    Has anyone had any experience of introducing a new cultivar of any plant ?

                    I know it can take around 3 to 5 years if testing etc.

                          but we have what we now call the Shiney Hybrid chilli. They've been cross pollinated between large plants that produce small, very tasty, hot chillies and a dwarf variety. We now get small plants that produce larger, tasty hot, chillies in profusion.

                          Chillies are too promiscuous to have a new cultivar without isolation.
