Coming to think of it Spruce, I haven't seen a single bee today.
Is it too hot for them?

        Hi Jen

it may be a case of NO nectar in the flowers you are growing.

My lot are going crazy in and out as fast as they can so they have found a new spot that has lots of flowers producing nectar and pollen at the moment, I have a feeling it will be blackberry as it just come in to flower with me so they may be doing the same with you ....

Jen its like a new restaurant opening up .... lots of new interest

              Hi All,

              Quick update

Just come back from the bees, all looking good and the blackberry in flower and the Himalayan Balsam just about to start so drawing to a close slowly but surely.

My new bought in Queen has been accepted by her adoptive family so really pleased that has worked as none are her daughters so in 21 days her daughters will start appearing/hatching out .

The guy who own the field got bitten by a adder , as he bent down to cut a lettuce in his veg patch , he uses raised beds and its a nice sunny spot.

So this is the time the bees start making the honey for me, so I cant see it being as good as last year but who knows all depends on the weather now.

Loving this thread and I absolutely love bees. Bought my dad a bee hotel for fathers day, he said there have been lots of baby bees hatching this year and it's amazing to watch. I got really excited because I have had some visiting my little garden and all over the flowers. Had to play "dodge the bee" earlier when I was trying to dead head some of the flowers but we both got along fine with our jobs. :)

                        Save the bees! :D

                            Hi Spruce,

it's nothing like you have, just a solitary beehive (I couldn't afford a real one for him lol). But they have lots of hatchlings... sadly my folks are also very un-techsavvy so getting a pic is about as clear as looking through fog with the amount of camera shake lol, when i go down for a visit I will get pics of it and their garden :) but this is the exact kit I bought him.
