2015 Tomato Growing

Oh great @JWK, you are a fund of useful information. Now all I need to do is NOT mix up my cordon and bush Tomatoes next year!

I'm loving mine at the moment. Picking 3 or 4 tom's off each day, very tasty, 10 times better than any watery supermarket tomato. I am considering getting a small greenhouse next year just to have tomatoes in

Please can anyone of you chaps tell me whether or not this is early blight,so far it is only affecting the bottom few leaves of half a dozen plants,they were fine a couple of days ago although my plants have looked poor in general this year

 

Every year has its peculiarities doesn't it and this year it's my tomatoes which are acting strangely.

Every year I grow Beefmaster and Gardener's Delight for a good mixture of large and small tomatoes, both sown at the same time and grown together. Normally the first Gardener's Delight, being smaller, are ready for picking at least two or three weeks before the Beefmasters.

This year, however the first Beefmaster has now ripened, while I have yet to pick a single Gardener's Delight, which although having plenty of tomatoes on them and being perfectly healthy, are taking much longer than normal to ripen.

As many have already said, the cold weather we had in May and early June has definitely slowed things down this year and the only explanation I can think of is that the Beefmasters, being F1 hybrids, have just a bit more vigour which meant that perhaps they weren't slowed down quite as much by the cold nights.

 

After years of over indulgence with tomatoes I decided to only grow two indoor varieties this year, four Gardeners Delight and two Shirley. These are planted two up in Levington grow bags.
Two of my Gardeners Delight, both in the same grow bag, have exactly the same markings as Lolimac's, the other four are fine. My next door neighbour, a local guru in tomato growing, assures me that it is magnesium deficiency and suggested 1 tablespoons of Epsom Salts to every 2 gallons of water at each watering.
I don't know if this will work because to be honest it was only the bottom leaves that were affected so I just took them off, that was just over two weeks ago and the plants seem fine.

Hi all, Really sorry to hassle you all again with my tomato plants but is there anything else I need to cut off. especially in the last 2 pics. the leaves seem to be big curly things - do I need to cut anything off any of them at top thank you. still waiting on any tomatoes appearing mind lol

 

I've had that in the past, don't think it's anything to worry about

 

I don't think it's blight @Lolimac but could be Septoria.

 

Its just so cold so slow progress at mine. The healthiest looking ones are outdoors and are variety Arctic which is apt
