What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

It's another hot day here, and very humid too, after the rain last night....

So, the dogs have got their Aqua cooling collars back on, and I have retreated back inside, after making up five bushels/bundles of cut laurel and rosa rugosa for the council to collect on Tuesday. I know they will be prickly, but if I can make them up, and tie them, with bare hands, shorts and sandals, I reckon they should be safe for the men to handle onto the back of the lorry?

 

The last of the patio and flagging was done yesterday so it's on with the water feature design and build whilst making some room for what i'm inevitably going to be buying from RHS Tatton Park

 

All front weeds now sent to the big compost heap in the sky Plus, made a little discovery ...

... there is an aquilegia sprouting from the same piece of soil as a Christmas Box that I bought at @shiney land this year - just the sort of surprise I like in a garden Good job I didn't pull *that* out as a weed! I probably would have 3 years ago

Plan tomorrow is to pull out the so called "miniature" buddliea that I planted last year. It's not what I would call minature and it looking horrid so it's coming out.

On the plus size, it does mean a trip to the local nursery for some plant hunting.

My experience of buddleia is: leave the teeniest, tiniest, piece of root/leaf and it *will* grow back! It is a very determined plant so be ruthless with it. Good luck

 

I've cleared up after more plant damage in the garden from high winds and dead headed the last of the Lupin flowers. Most of this years annuals that I'd grown and were planted out are now in the composter having not had a chance to flower.

The new Clematis I bought last year has suddenly collapsed from wilt so that will be hoisted out tomorrow.

It's been a terrible year for my plants and the weather is mostly to blame. On a brighter note.....I've sown 200 winter Pansies.

 

Lifted my garlic today and what a dissappointment. Picked more strawberries and won an argument with apair of blackbirds that think they have the right to eat as many of my black/red currants as they wish ?
A nice new net tomorrow will end their vitamin c cravings and theyll have to make do with the old bread I throw them instead.

Today I fixed the strimmer, cleared some equipment from between the sheds, weeded and swept the patio, cut back the ivy creeping over from the neighbour's side and took off the stray straggles of hedge, weeded the drive, round the garage and house and outside the front fence, trimmed some things creeping over the path and cleared fallen leaves (compost by now ) from a drain cover. It's fair to say I'm knackered. And I've still got to do the actual strimming tomorrow! Dog walk now, though.

 

Dead heading,watering,picking Raspberries ,mowed the lawns and pulled up more bindweed...
