This afternoon around 2.30ish we had a delightful visit from the Vulcan and the Blades flying over our village in Northamptonshire. We saw it around four times and it was Awesome:yes:

We decided to trek over to our allotments to pick more raspberries, dig up spuds etc after our weeks holiday.

On the way back home I spotted the Vulcan through a gap in the hedge as Mr Kandy was driving us back home.I managed to get him to stop the car in a farm entrance and then spent the next twenty minutes having our own personal flying display as it flew around Sywell Aredrome and the surrounding fields.I managed to get some photos and video with my pocket camera but I was shaking and shouting so much with excitement I expect the photos and footage will be rubbish.:snork:

This display really made our day as they reckon it is going to be the last year ever for displays:sad:

Mr Kandy has just found on Facebook that 49 mins ago it had arrived at Doncaster.

I'd love to see the Vulcan at full chat - incredible piece of engineering.

Saw vulcans many times at airshows in the 60s 70s and 80s.
Always a crowd puller, and fantastic noise.

Sad to see it go, but I guess something like that just costs too much to keep airworthy these days.
The Jets of those days were always more interesting than the modern ones.

I have seen it go past my house @Kandy , and I guessed it had been to Sywell.
That wasn't today though, it was some time back.
Judging by its flight direction, I think it was heading home. Is it based up near Coventry?

image.jpg @NorthantsGeezer we missed it a few weeks ago by about half an hour so to see it flying round our village and then Sywell later on was a surprise.Evidently this flight wasn't supposed to happen today but so glad we saw it.My pieces of film and turned out ok but I haven't a clue how to download it from my camera on to here or how to edit out the wonky bits:snork:

This is a still that I have taken from off of my camera to show you how close it came so sorry about the reproduction as I have taken a photo with my tablet from the camera screen:biggrin:

Forgot to say,I thought it was round Leicstershire area where it is stationed but its final flight of the day was Doncaster but that could be ready for the next display.

When it came over the villages army afternoon I was getting in my washing and could hear it coming but the noise sounded like an aircraft was going to drop on the village because the sounds bounce off of the houses but when I went to the front door and walked outside got the shock of it coming over the houses.:snork:

Once stood on a Welsh hillside and watched one fly past...................below us. It was hedgehopping under the radar of an AA battery on the coast. Sound was incredible, but what was really astonishing was the total non-reaction of the sheep in the valley. They did not even look up!

Vulcan's are awesome, so elegant in flight (only way I can describe it). We've been lucky to see them displaying at airshows over the years, but sadly no longer ..... envy you having a personal display [emoji3]

When i was a kid growing up on a farm situated on a hill we used to regularly get buzzed by Vulcans. They were so low you could see the warning stickers on their bellies . Awesome!

It's at Doncaster. As others have said it's it last flying season. I'm going to see it at Wings and Wheels, Dunsfold on the Aug Bank Hol.

See here for the final displays:

Yeah , I read earlier that it is now at Doncaster. It's been kept all over though it seems.
The post about the sheep reminds me of my stepson.
He sat on the ground playing on his gameboy, whilst two harriers hovered in front of us. The noise was incredible and the ground was vibrating, and he didn't look up once! :ouch1:.
When I was his age, I loved every second of an airshow :hapydancsmil:

@Kandy .... Are they the bomb doors open? :yikes:

Hi @NorthantsGeezer ,not sure about bomb doors but they do look like bombs underneath it:snork:

Evidently it is supposed to be coming back over our village in September but knowing our luck we shall be else where if it does come:biggrin:

Loads of people are posting photos on the net round these parts and everyone we meet asks us what the big plane is they have seen flying round the skies:biggrin:

Big bore lovely photo of her, couldn't get any close up clear ones but pleased with what I did get with just a small camera:biggrin:

John someone else said it is based now in Doncaster but like NG I thought it was closer to us.
