We are in the middle of watching Taken2 which we recorded with Liam Nielsen(spelling)and we are finding it just as good as Taken1 but as Mr Kandy has to be at work early tomorrow we have had to press pause:sad:

One thing though about the film, his wife and daughter had booked to go to China for a holiday but her new husband cancelled it all so they have ended up in Istanbul with her ex hubby (Liam Nielsen, can't remember his character name in the film:snork:)Anyway I had a thought would his ex and daughter need any inoculations to go to Istanbul or can they just fly from America to the place and be ok bug wise:scratch:? Mr Kandy said "trust you to think of that"

I watched a film the other day called 'Red dog'. I wept like a baby at the end.
Animal stories always get me .

We watched Jack Strong the other night....................

Largely subtitled it is based on the true story of Ryszard KukliƄski a Polish army officer who spied for the US during the Cold War.

        I watched Control earlier....................

Written by Jimmy Mcgoven it is excellent! Exactly what The Beeb can do so well and why the license fee should be protected.

I found out that My Jihad is still on iPlayer last night...............

It's a short film and nothing to do with what the title suggests. I first saw it a couple of years ago - highly recommended :dbgrtmb:

Equally as good from the same series is this..................

We watched A Most Wanted Man last night.................

Based on a John Le Carre novel it stars Philip Seymour Hoffman in one of his last roles and was directed by Anton Corbijn. This film is pure class and well worth seeking out. It is available on Netflix.

Well, for me, it would be a Hugh Grant fix! Mmmm. I can't watch it again though since I identify with Emma Thompson's character, Karen (of unrequited love) - too painful.

I do know one of the scriptwriter's for this film! (He was called in when a rewrite was needed). He is responsible for the scene where Andrew Lincoln's character, Mark, turns up at the door of Keira Knightley's character, Juliette. Notably when Mark shows Juliette how he feels via words on large cards. Very romantic I thought!

I really want to see that film, as well as Capote. Hoffman was a genius.

He was a sublime talent and such a sad loss.
A Most Wanted Man is excellent (as is Capote) - the director Anton Corbijn is one of my favourite photographers and he puts that skill to good use in his films. Best of all though his films are never showy, instead relying on beautiful attention to detail. In Control (about Ian Curtis and Joy Division) he insisted that the actors learnt to play the live performance scenes themselves instead of dubbing them.

I saw James Brown live once. Not my kind of music but it was one hell of a good show!

Neil Diamond is a guilty pleasure of mine :heehee: I saw the Jazz Singer many many moons ago and rather enjoyed it.
