In the absence of pre-existing wills [1], it happens automatically on their birth, it's the law.

[1] Can you disinherit your children before they're born?

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth...they are too weak to refuse.

That's a whole other discussion! :heehee:

People's definition of 'meek' varies so much. :noidea:

I was just using the word 'inherit' in a lighter context that's all. [IMG]

Even the absence of Clarkson can be fixed...by his own foul mouth!

Just reading this has made me very, very worried. I fear for my brother who is a widower. He has told me about his will and made Mr AB the executive. His children haven't spoke to him for over 10 years.

If a will is done properly and legally drawn up (i.e. consulting a solicitor) then he should be able to avoid the pitfalls whereby the will can be contested. This was clearly not the case here, i.e. re. Heather Ilott's mother.

Are you worried about upsetting your nephews/nieces? When the worst happens, just get the solicitor to read and explain the will to all.

I've not read all the replies - just picked up on the issue that the daughter was on the 'bread line'. Anyone over 18 is an adult - and is responsible for their own actions (or in actions). At what point can the 'apron strings' be finally cut? Also strongly suggests that the welfare state isn't in fact meeting basic needs - hence money from the estate - I wonder how Mr. Cameron would respond to this assertion?
