Assign the British Military, when not fighting Bliars wars, a division checking every vehicle our end, @WeeTam
or ideally with Frances permission at their end
Otherwise just divert the exhaust gasses through the trailers

This is one massive problem. If a way is found to keep them from getting into the trucks where will they go? what is Calais going to do with them all? This is affecting the whole of Europe, they have it bad in Spain as well, how is this going to be stopped?? The most worrying thing is that nobody seems to be trying to come up with an answer, it's like they think it will just 'go away' on it's own. :dunno:

They dont have a plan, and I'm willing to bet they dont have a clue what to.
If they did it would have been done a long time ago.

I think an electric fence around Euro tunnel would be a start, seeing as the French police dont seem able, or willing, to do anything about the situation, the Gallic shrug has gone far enough.

Once someone storms the tunnel and gets onto the track, or into the terminal, they have committed an offence and should be taken into custody, but it appears they just let them go, to have another crack the next night.
          And so it goes on.

Travellers are starting to fear forced entry into their vehicles by those desperate enough to go that far. I hope it doesn't get to that stage .

The thing that is really annoying me about this is the simple fact that the immigrants are NOT seeking asylum; if you watch the footage on the TV, you will see many of them grinning and laughing, and to be honest not all that badly dressed - - it is just a big adventure to them.

Besides, if they were genuinely seeking asylum, they would seek it in the FIRST safe country they got to, not travel all the way to Blighty.

This situation is a total mess! God only knows how they are going to stop it, but something needs to done & it needs doing quickly.
We don't have any room in this country for anymore people, there's not enough housing, the NHS is in its knees & we simply cannot keep giving benefits to foreign people who have never paid in nor can we treat them on the NHS I'm not meaning to be mean but we have English people who have worked hard all their lives struggling to heat their homes in the winter & eat both of which are basic human needs, if we stop taking in these foreigners & housing them supplying NHS treatment to them, educating their children, giving them benifits we could spend more on English people! I'm NOT racist.
As for HGV drivers being fined for having stowaways in their lorries its a ruddy joke, I know some will be corrupt but most lorry drivers are just like the rest of us...just trying to make a living for themselves & their families! I don't know if you all saw the news last night but the foreigners were literally like rats crawling all over the lories it was a disgusting way to behave! I know they are desperate but it's so dangerous to behave like that. As for climbing on axels well that's just blooming stupid! I'd hate to be a lorry driver right now it must be so stressful & dangerous God only knows how long it's going to be before a lorry driver gets seriously hurt...it's a total disgrace
I'm sorry to rant but I'm so blinking cross about this now! :wallbanging:

We are travelling to our Spanish holiday home in September and have always driven via the Euro Tunnel, this year we have looked at different options and decided to go via ferry to Cherbourg and drive from there and similar coming back. I wouldn't feel safe at the moment coming through the Euro Tunnel. I have Dutch friends who are visiting us this weekend and they told me they were chased as they have a large motorhome.... so worrying.

:wallbanging: Oh golly An immigration holding centre :noidea: we have families in overcrowded houses whom we cannot house but we can sort out a holding centre! It's so wrong! This shouldn't happen, these people need to be deported straight away back to where they came from!
I couldn't agree with you more Joolz they are just going to keep coming

I totally agree Beckie, when I lived in Spain, do you think they gave me anything... absolutely NOT, if I didn't pay my taxes on time I would be summoned to court, I lived in Spain for 5 years and the one astonishing thing that was said to me was by a Moroccan friend who told me that I came from the land of 'milk and honey'..... she was told that if she came to the UK she would be given a home for her and her children, free education, NHS and given an income to live even if she wasn't employed. I have many friends from all over the world and I'm not racist, this country just needs to sort itself out....

It's not just crossing the channel, it's happerns in the uk, when we haul whiskey etc we always had to run with doors locked as we have been highjacked many times, one driver didn't lock the doors once, pulled up at a set of taffic lights, some one jumped in then put a needle to his neck and was told to get out

The tunnel has been open for god knows how many years now, the ferry companies struggle to compete.
But I dont think there is the capacity on the ferries any longer to take the massive amounts of stuff we seem to import these days.
I assume its imports as you rarely see British lorries these days.

I know the foreign lorries might well be carrying British exports, but I just wonder what the ratio is.

Just wondering if there could be some kind of lock down on lorries heading for Calais when things get like this.
The cops could be given authority to stop all, or any trucks that appear to be heading for the ports and hold them in various parts of the country, be it even Scotland.

I cant see why at times like this they are allowed to just keep moving until they hit stack in Kent.
                              Its barmy.
