What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Persisted down most of the afternoon after food shopping this morning.Just a bit of dead heading.

 

As the rain had finally stopped I thought it was time to make a start on picking the blackcurrants.............wow bumper crop.

Ive only got 3 plants but the crop is truly huge this year so much so ive only picked a third and got plenty so I can leave the rest for the wildlife. Gooseberry plant was dire ?

Cant take anything for granted in the garden right ?

 

I cut down the dead framework of the red robin next to the patio, and cut into log pieces - I was surprised how dense a wood it was, so it should burn well.

Then, on this supposedly driest day of the week, we had heavy rain for an hour. After a wait, and a shop (needed petrol!), I did manage to get most of the grass cut.

The rest was just dead heading and watering (rain doesn't get to the planters under the eaves, and the barrel pond needed topping up)

 

Weeded the main flower bed down the right side of the garden and planted out some dianthus and gaura :-)

 

Shovelling, loading, unloading, barrowing and then emptying 18 compost bags of fresh horse manure....

... Need a cuppa , to clean hubby's car, and a shower, in that order!

 

I been sorting plants left from the spring boot sales. Some just need cutting back, re-potting
and then might see if they will sell for autumn sales.

Been going through my other pots with seedlings, so far I have transplanted 100 Basil
seedlings (Xmas, Lettuce Leaf, Red Leaf and Sweet Dani)

I have also been sorting the seed heads from my primula's.

Just needing to do quite a bit of watering, it's amazing how quickly pots dry out,
even though we have had quite a good drop of rain.

 

Picked a big bunch of sweetpeas

 

It's underway then @ARMANDII ? I hope there will be progress pictures please.

 

I did a very demanding job today....picking blackberries from the overhanging bush from next door!

 

Would love to see some photos in progress and when its all done...

 

Had a really busy day today... even after the initial shock this morning of all my roses being eaten overnight. Cut the hedge, mowed the lawn, tidied all the hanging baskets and tubs. Weeded the whole garden, tidied all around the green house and dug up a lot of weeds that I had been avoiding. Cut down the remaining overgrown shrubs and ivy strangling them all and nearly got my clear blanket to start a new project so quite happy with progress

 

Oh @Apple Blossom, so sorry to hear that you lost your roses! Was it the whole plants were eaten, or "just" the flowers?
