      Good evening all,
I hope you've all had a good day.
@Lolimac & @moyra thank you both for your kindness :grphg:. I've stained the coops & I'm right ready for some new girls, it's really odd without Nora.
I can hear my dear old nan saying its better to have loved & lost than never to have loved at all. I agree Loli best to just go ahead & get some more, I can't imagine life without my girls :imphrt:, they are such good company & hilarious to watch!
Pussy cat is on fine form now, think he probably just ate some thing :eeew: knowing him it was probably a mouse!

                  Aloha everyone,

It's already a warm and sunny day

I found yesterday quite a tiring day :phew: and I think the hot sun probably had something to do with it. I started trying to catch up on bookwork about 2.30 a.m., fed the birds about 4.30 and then and stood near the feeder to watch them mob it - they got rather noisy :snork:.

We got a phone call from guests saying that one of them had a problem and they wouldn't arrive until 3.30, so change of timetable. As they were going to be late I set up the sprinkler in the front garden to water the new bed as it dries out quickly because all the compost, horse manure etc. hasn't consolidated properly yet. Setting this up takes over half an hour as I have to get out the extension hose and fit it (and move the cars).

Then I did a load of weeding in the veg plot which included digging out another eight brambles (ouch!). This was followed by an emergency fix on the greenhouse as another of the big glass roof panels was sliding out (run round in circles in panic :yikes:). Worked on how to do a total repair on the roof - with advice and help from a DIY friend.

As the wood that holds the clips that hold the glass panels in place (each are 5ft x 2.5ft) is completely rotten the clips won't stay in any longer. My friend said that all the timber strip needs replacing. So I went out to buy the timber. The thickness of the timber had to be exact because it would be sitting under the edge of the glass and the glass would have to slide over it and into its grooves.

So, having been out to get 4 lengths of 2400 x 70 x 1.5mm and a pot of preservative (plus a load of other things for Mrs S) I got back after our guests had turned up! As the sprinkler was in the way I had to quickly (relatively, as it was now 78F) move it so that I could get my car in and then juggle cars around so that I could wind the 100ft extension of hose back.

Then set the sprinkler up on the veggies :phew: (for those of you that have been to Shineyland you know that the plot is 300ft from the front garden).

After that it was just socialising and cooking. They enjoyed themselves sitting in the garden but it was getting too hot for me (eventually went up to 84.3F). By the time they had gone I was feeling a wee bit tired.

Today will be more relaxed. Lunch with friends at a pub (after some gardening) then off to a charity soiree (aren't we posh :snork:) this evening. The house that the soiree will be is owned by a lovely couple. She was an opera singer but tends to sing standards, jazz and blues at this event. There'll be a buffet, lots of chatting and wandering around their nice garden.

                  Have a great day

                  Aloha!

                    Good afternoon All,

Back at work today but I have a half day tomorrow, unfortunately that will be mainly housework chores & I hope to make a start on washing the plastic on the outside of the house, do we ever catch up :heehee:.
It's lovely here, nice temperature & a cool breeze perfect gardening temperature .
I gave the garden a good water before I left this morning. It's looking good :dbgrtmb:
I think I might have a sneaky peep in the garden centre later, I'm passing it so might as well!!!
                    Enjoy your day folks :)

                    Afternoon all :spinning:

Becky, hope you do get some more chooks, they will help you get over your loss :grphg:

Well, had a lie in after yesterday's boot sale. Flipping takes it out of you, loading,
unloading, taking out of boxes, putting it all back in, :phew: still, I know a lot of people, they
come over for a chat which I enjoy. I have a regular pitch, so they know where I am.:dbgrtmb:

I need to have a check over all my stock, my jars are low, so they need replenishing,
hopefully after tidying them up, I shall have a few Fuchsia's for Sunday.:blue thumb:

Been busy, shredding an overgrown Buddleia, OH was trying to do it, but he kept
shoving it in the aperture:nonofinger: :wallbanging: , I could smell the burning, :love30:, and I was
the other end of the garden. :mute: So, I took the job off him, told where to go, so he went,
to sit and watch the Bill :pathd: This afternoon I asked him to clear a row of potatoes,
as I wanted the space for a project tomorrow, he came in to watch afternoon TV.
I took some bits to the compost heap, he had only done 2 plants :mute:. :nonofinger:

It' s true, if you want a job done well, do it yourself.

Well, off for my dinner, salmon, new potatoes, fresh peas. Fresh fruit salad
                    and ice cold custard

Enjoy the rest of your day.:imphrt:

A bit too warm and sticky this afternoon. No sunshine but over 80F. I started scrubbing part of the awning but got too hot. As we're going out soon I decided to stop (don't need much of an incentive :heehee:).

We're taking some food for the buffet at the musical soiree. I'm not going quite like this

                      Aloha Shiney and everyone, :heehee:

The charity Soiree was good :blue thumb:. Friendly people, very nice garden and good singing. The pianist was fantastic and was the only accompaniment to the singer. He did some solos of Jazz, blues and light opera (used to be in a pop band in the 50's/60's :rolleyespink:). The singer (ex opera and musical star) sang songs from shows, standards, blues and light opera (Madam Butterfly etc.)

Today I hope to get a bit of weeding done before opening the bridge club. For the last hour or so I've been setting up files for our holiday photos and started transferring them to their sub folders. When I've done that I can start to delete all the rubbish and the duplicates (we both took photos). That will take a good few hours as I have to make folders for all the sites we visited, search the, almost, 2,000 photos to transfer them to the correct folders and then study each one in order to decide what gets deleted.

I always do this with our photos as filing them under lots of headings helps us to remember what they are and where they were taken. Otherwise, in a years time, or ten years, I wouldn't have the faintest what they were! I also take notes at some places but it certainly helps to file the photos properly.

Sun is shining and it's already 64F

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha!

                          Good Morning all,

Opticians appointment this morning that is likely to cost me a couple of hundred or so for new glasses. Oh well I have had these two years so that cannot be bad.
Hope everyone is well and doing ok. Amber has had her breakfast and is ready for her walk and as you so rightly say WOO and Shiney, the sun is shining out there already!
Have a good day all, God bless. :wub2:

                            Hi @moyra

Don't let them talk you into getting new glasses unless you really need them. When I had my eyes tested a few weeks ago they said that my prescription had changed. So I asked them by how much and they said 'not a lot' and, when I asked them if I would be able to tell the difference, they said not to bother getting new ones. :blue thumb:
