thank you. I am fiddling with it every chance I get, reading the book etc. discovered it takes a good 2 hours for the battery to power up. And seems to zoom in so well to the hummingbird feeder. Now if the hummer will only cue up and fly there when I am ready.

Unless you have a spare battery, it might be a good idea to checkout how long it lasts beforehand, especially if you intend using it for video in addition to stills, as that can really drain some batteries fast, leaving you to wait 2 hours until you can start using it again.

good idea. was thinking of plugging it in each evening and let it charge while I am sleeping. Surely it can last one full day.

It will last for a certain number of exposures and not by time, Redstar, and you also have to throw in the energy needed for the rear display, focusing etc. According to the reviews the battery life is worth around 230 pics so there should a pic number taken display on the camera.

I am planning on bringing my old stand by camera also.

Have to tell you all. On this trip, they will also be taking pictures and sending them on email to me, and whoever I list to see what we are doing daily. it is so neat. Soon.

It's a good idea to have at least one spare fully charged battery, Redstar, as they tend to die on you right at the wrong minute:doh:. I have 5 spare batteries, a charger, and the battery in the camera:heehee:.

Thank goodness I have time to get out and get the extra batteries. Ok, will get to a store this week. Even if I pack the charger with me, do you think I need all those extra batteries?

No, you'll only need the one spare battery. I have so many as I tend to shoot multiple shots on something. My Pentax K5 battery will take around 450 shots before it dies but, as I said, they always do so at a bad time. I can use 3 batteries in a session and for astrophotography some exposures are up ten minutes long so I will need that many when I start.
