    typical Sian...

I've just made a batch of blackberry and apple jam in my bread machine.

About 5 small windfall apples (size of a Worcester), and blackberries, and a drop of water. Cooked gently on the stove until the apple pulped, and reduced slightly. Put into bread machine, topped up with frozen blackberries to 1kg, then 1kg sugar.

I've made some tasty, good coloured jam, which seems to be setting quite well (only bottled 10 mins ago!). But I was wondering what the correct proportions of apple to blackberry is, to get a good, dark, setting jam?

You made jam using a bread machine?:noidea: I'm intrigued as to how you did that :)

Some bread making machines have the facility to do that :blue thumb:

@Radiation91, as @Freddy says, some bread machines have a jam making setting. If you think about it, the same two things are needed - gentle controlled heating, and stirring!

I find that so long as I reduce the fruit on the stove a little to start with, so it is starting to thicken, and then weigh that, adding the same weight of sugar, I get good results....

The jam passed the taste test this weekend, with flying colours. I will be out picking more, when it stops raining (though we do so need this rain)

Good morning Jam makers. I've got a cheats tip for jam making! I use the 'jam' making/preserving sugar rather than normal sugar & pectin etc it's so easy, the jam sets every time & it's really quick. :dbgrtmb: Most major supermarkets sell it :blue thumb:
