Seed potatoes?

    I generally wait until the flowers and tops start to die back, feel around in the top to see if they are ready. If not, leave it a week or so and try again. I take them out as I need them. I will be putting my Christmas potatoes in bags.

      Frustration!!! All the sites Ive looked on are all sold out. I refuse to pay £2.71 for 4 seed pots from nottcuts.
      Any suggesgions?

      I tried them a few years ago in a cold greenhouse, frost still got them in October and I have not bothered since.

      I have enough in storage to be eating them at Christmas and like John I prefer mash and roast then.

      I WILL be more organised next year - now that I have an inkling of what I'm actually doing & what should be planted when.

      I do know that a section of the lottie will be entirely for potatoes - we use them everyday, boiled, baked, mashed, roasted, new pots, home made oven chips, theres 5 of us in this house so I need to get on & be organised.

          You have to wonder if it might not be cheaper to just buy some for Christmas dinner along with the mint sauce.:snork:

            Yes I agree but home grown veggies always seem to taste better, especially if you have grown them yourself lol

              Wyevale are selling packs of 9 Xmas planting spuds for £2.99. I got a pic of the display stand and will add varieties later.

                  Thanks Scrungee. I managed to get some Taylor's Charlotte potatoes from EBay in the end as everywhere had sold out. They arrived this morning.

                    Went to wyevale this morning - theyve sold out already & arent getting any more in:wallbanging:

                    I was well frustrated as I was only there on Thursday & they hadnt got any in then!
