    Picked more rhubarb and runner beans for sale for our charity. Rhubarb is slowing down now and only picked 5lb.

    The runner beans are recovering a bit from rabbit deprivation. About forty of the plants were totally eaten and another fifty are recovering (may get some beans in a few week's time). The rest are now starting to get into their stride. 7lb sold today but that's very poor compared to 50lb this time last year, but they had a slow start this season.

      Just about to go outside and get a few bits and bobs done. I was hoping for wall to wall sunshine but it's gone a little cloudy. Hopefully it will warm up. I need to do some more deadheading and tidying and a bit of watering. I also need to give my tomato plants a talking to. They're just not ripening thanks to the mediocre summer we've had here.

        I've strimmed the patch of ground where the greenhouse will eventually go and cut back thousands of brambles and rosebay willowherb. I've cleared two full dustbins. You can see the side of the shed now! Thousands of spiders fled from me and my secateurs in horror. Apart from one that ran the wrong way and landed on my leg. You should have heard me squeal! :heehee: I'm not done yet as I need to finish behind the shed and along the fence line, then probably strim again lower still and then, when I can see what's what, make a decision re weedkiller or digging to get the grass and weed roots out. I really, really don't want to use weedkiller, but I've had a virus and I'm wiped out just from what I've done. Gah, decisions. :dunno:

          Removed lots and lots of turf. Tomorrow will be more of the same *collapses in heap*. I only managed 4.5 x 11 feet today because of the stones and bramble roots, but I have more spare time tomorrow. Lucky, because I need to do about 8 x 11 feet then *collapses again*.

          While I was working hard, the lurcher stole and ate 2 packets of choc chip Hobnobs. I was not best pleased as I was looking forward to having some after all that work :(

                  My job was at the front of the House where a 20 year old Lonicera "Baggensen's Gold" had overgrown to the point where it was two thirds across the driveway. I never park my car all the way up the drive and "Baggensens Gold" had taken advantage of that.:dunno::heehee: But since I have contractors coming next week to work in the rear garden and will need access and space on the driveway and the side passage to the House I decided it was time to prune it right back. So out came the Hedge Trimmer and, after placing a tarpaulin under the shrub I gave it a severe haircut. That filled the green waste bin and caused a trip down to the Dump with a car full of cuttings etc. But it does, I confess, look a lot better and I can now see the entrance to my garage:heehee:

                        I wish, Sheal:heehee:........I applied for the Local Village Idiot's job and failed because I was under qualified:doh::dunno: It's just that I have learnt over the years by not putting some form of sheeting underneath to catch the falling leaves, twigs, etc, and causing more work for myself. Being able to funnel all the messy bits caught by the tarpaulin straight into the bin made the job quicker and easier.......so laziness, not intelligence, drove me to use the tarpaulin:heehee:

                          How do you people remember the names of your plants? I struggle and have to note what is planted and refer to the picture on the packet along with my notes to tell visitors what they are. I'm sitting here now trying to list what has been planted and where.
