Mrs Shiney spent all day yesterday preparing her entries for the horticultural show today. She has to load her car with all those and also the provisions for lunch for the judges and helpers. I've just been out shopping for the lunches - eight French sticks, ham, cheese, butter, salad stuff, milk etc. . She's on her way now so I can put my feet up.

I'll go out and pick beans for selling this afternoon at the club. Usually by this time of the summer I'm able to take 30-50lb in but don't think I'll get more than 10lb. I hope Mr Rabbit enjoyed his meals

Beans update

I had three pounds in the fridge ready for sale so had to go out and pick some more for this afternoon. Picked 14lb in the rain!! (may have weighed a bit less without the rain .) That took 45 minutes so clothes are now in the tumble dryer and I'm like a drowned rat.

Time for a nice hot shower

It's another lovely morning and the garden is very happy with the rain it had yesterday.

Our Silver Jubilee rose is filling the air with its wonderful scent and it's a pleasure to walk near it.



This is typical of what the rabbit(s) have done. We plant two beans per pole and 91 were eaten. Some of them have recovered and are about 5ft high but others have totally disappeared or are like these.



Mrs Shiney had a fairly successful day yesterday at the horticultural show. She got four Firsts, four Seconds and eight Thirds.

We picked about 20lb of golden plums in the evening. A lot of them weren't ripe but the wasps have been getting them. So we'll let them ripen indoors - golden plums do that quite easily. I'm now having about 10 plums with breakfast and another 10 each evening and have been doing that for nearly two weeks.

The cooking apples are coming along well and Mrs Shiney won a First for them.

Top of the morning all my friends hope you are firing on all cylinders ,its a steady drizzle here,like a fine spray from a watering can take good care of yourselves and keep smiling through

 

Aloha everyone,

We had steady, and fine, rain all night but it's dry at the moment. The garden is loving it Very overcast but sun is on it's way.

None of our watering cans have sprays on them! (Note to Self: remember to buy one when near a garden centre - been saying that for over a year but never go to garden centres ).

It was a productive gardening day yesterday. I mowed seven lawns and Mrs Shiney and Michael got hedges and big shrubs cut and lots of cutting back and weeding.

Electrician coming today to fix lots of little things that aren't working. A ceiling light in the corridor has stopped working (tried new bulbs in it), a strip light under a kitchen unit is flashing (tried a new bulb), need a new extractor fan with light in the shower and need a new extractor fan in the greenhouse (been running almost non-stop for 40 years).
