    Its a source of potassium amongst other things, so can be handy in borders that have flowers in them; I wouldn't put it in great quantity, but evenly spread about and it should have some benefit I think

    My old Dad used to fork in where he intend to grow his onions and cabbage, I must admit that I still spread fine ash onto my onion bed.
