Can I make liquid compost with blood fish and bone?

    If I steep BFB in water for a length of time will I get a liquid compost, ie will the water take on the properties of the granulated fertiliser?

    Not sure about that, I've never tried. My feeling is the bonemeal won't dissolve - the other two might.

    I was thinking the same @JWK

    I expect the blood especially would break down quickly in the soil anyway, so not much point dissolving it.

      The whole idea of applying blood fish and bonemeal in the raw form is so that the plants get the long term benefit of slow release, Merleworld. You probably would get a kind of liquefied fertiliser but unless you wanted a quick feed, and I can't see why taking the trouble to make solution is going to be better than getting the proper quick release fertiliser, Merleworld:dunno::snork:

      If you ever managed to dissolve blood, fish & bone, possibly by boiling it up, I reckon you'd have a really smelly, messy glue.

        Typically my first post is a necro-post, so sorry for that.....but -
        As has already been said, FB+B won't dissolve in the water to make a liquid plant feed, but you could ferment it down and essentially liquify it with the aid of lactobacillus.
        Just a thought ;)
