So this little weed has popped up in my lavender bed where it is not wanted

Its really lovely so would love to know what it is so i can make an informed decision on whether to remove it and bin it or move it to a different flower bed

Lobelia (probably L.erinus) by the looks of it. Not a weed as such but they can self seed prolifically and seem to travel in bird poop too.

Brilliant thank you i knew i recognised it and couldnt out my finger on it

It is currently a weed as it is a plant growing in the wrong place. It soon wont be a weed tho once i lift it and replant it in the other flower bed :-)

It must have come by bird as i havnt seen any in near by gardens so im grateful to that bird

      Hi Dips.

I don't want to put a downer on it ,but, is it really worth moving as it will probably only last another month or so, and they are so easy to grow or purchase in the spring. Although grown as an annual it is actually a perennial, why don't you pot it up ?

Yes I knew it was a garden escape and said so....I now see that the post didn't "take"/get sent. (I guess I was lucky to even be able to access the thread in the first place....often just get a white screen).

I've just out a post on another thread only for it to go on 4 times and had to spend the last 5 mins deleting the extras.

A garden escape is a seed from a cultivated plant has turned up unexpectedly.
