There was still some stuff in their Milton Keynes store last week, I bought 2 x 2.25 packs of chicken poo pellets @ £1 each, not as good as when I got a trolleyload from Homebase @24p/kg when they had a mis-price, but my stockpile is being depleted as I use a fair bit of the stuff despite having our own hens that produce better quality poo.

Have a look right back through this board to see what sort of bargains we've been getting.

Ooh I have. Some very seedy deals being had. (Pun definitely intended.) just last week my Asda had loads left but nothing I needed. I do like the free packs of seeds on magazines as I do enjoy a good read. New thread to be started, I feel.

Excuse my naivety, good one on the chicken pellets but can you tell me what they are used for? I'm still new to this game.

Me too, though I've only got 2 more packs to come.
Most of my pansy plugs have damped off. Only 7 remain. All but one of the stocks are still going strong though.

All of my orders have now been received including plugs. Very disappointed plugs for autumn baskets do not have any trailers. Pic on website shows trailing ivy. Complain or not complain? After all i did pay £1.99 for them lol.

It's only by getting all the bargains, reductions, glitches, freebies, etc., plus growing loads of our own food, making homebrew, foraging, skip diving, etc., that we manage a decent lifestyle on my small early retirement pension.

                            Hi Wee Tam,
                            They're easy !
The more sun they get the better, although they will flower well in half shade. They like neutral to alkaline soil, not too rich, free draining. They don't like being fed too much, just a very week feed about once a month or so would keep them going.
In the hotter months they prefer to have the soil aerated around them ( such as hoeing or lightly disturbed with a hand fork or trowel ) rather than being constantly watered.
If the plants seem to be growing away just with one leader then pinch out the tip when about 4" high.

Probably the most important thing to remember is to make sure no part of the stem is buried. All Dianthus are woody perennials which means that the stem is very susceptible to rotting if buried.

I've just had a thought........ We are talking border Carnations or Pinks here aren't we, cuz it's a whole different ball game for perpetuals.

T&M are having a free P&P promotion over the Aug BH weekend and are also doing £5 off your next order, but state (as did VM) that they cannot be used together, and whichever way I try, I cannot get free P&P to work with a £5 off code
