    @CrazyPrawn85 welcome to GC.

    It's fairly easy to identify a bay tree. If you post a couple of pictures of what you think is the bay tree (full shot and then a close-up of the leaves) we should be able to tell you.

    The other way is to take a leaf and crush it in your hand. You should be able to tell from the smell. Bay and laurel are the same family but have distinctly different smells - and you don't want to cook with laurel :nonofinger: :)

    If you're going to be asking any questions about plants etc. then it helps us a lot if you put into your info, below your avatar, what part of the country you're from. Soil and climate differences can affect our answers. :)

        Hi Nathan, I found gardeners corner via a google search for "gardening forums UK" it was very high up the rankings if i remember right.

                Hi all,

                I used to be a member of another forum but had not visited for a long while, when I did, I found out it had been taken over by some kind of glossy 'house-and-home-we'll-flog-as-many-products-as-we-can' lifestyle website, so went to Google search and typed 'gardening forum UK'; this was first on the list :-)
