      Hi @Anthony Rogers - I think we are supposed to discuss things on this thread :)

      Yes it is Southsea Castle, where Henry VIII watched his Mary Rose capsize and sink just a short way out in the Solent. It's one of our favourite haunts. I've taken lots of photos of it over the years plus all the lovely gardens nearby, do you know the area then? I wonder if you've sketched Portsmouth Cathedral(s)?

      Thanks for the heads up JWK :)

      I've been there a few times, quite a few years ago now though.

      I'll have to post some of my drawings from that area, done both the cathedrals, portchester & Southsea castles and a few of the Forts. I think if my memory serves me they are called Palmerston Forts or Palmerston Follies ?

        Yes they may be called that, there are quite a few fortifications along the south coast there named after that Victorian Prime Minister, over in Essex (where Mrs JWK comes from) they are called Martello towers.

        It's not changed much! Like a lot of seaside towns it's seen better days, but we love it's charm.

        Lots of patience, very often slowly approaching on hands and knees, noting where my shadow falls to plan approach, and accepting the vast majority of attempts will end in failure.

            @wiseowl .....Morning Woo. In the macro vote, are we voting on all the photos from Trunkys in January to the final photo submitted by Bilbo in August even though the comp is split into sections? Just though I'd better check incase I've missed something. :)

              Unfortunately when I took over from our good friend @Marley Farley the Macro Comp had been running since the beginning of the year,on reflection ,woo could have handled it a little better,so this Macro current comp as you have rightly pointed out to this notsowiseoldowl ;)will be judged from January until now:smile:

                    @wiseowl thanks for getting the macro comp off to a prompt start today

                    I have a question:

                    Does that mean pics taken during the previous 2015 macro comp periods, but not previously submitted, can be entered for this final 2015 macro comp?

                    (so unlike the monthly comp where they should be taken within the competition period).

                    Good evening @Scrungee Could you elaborate for me please ,as I see it but then I am only an Owl, to me it seems self explanatory as long as the photo was taken between January and August the 31st 2015 and you enter only 3 photos then that is the way I interpret the following:smile:

                    Photos have to be taken within the current competition year 2015​

                    (THIS CURRENT MACRO COMP WILL RUN FROM​

                    JANUARY TO AUGUST 31ST 2015)​

                    I just wanted confirmation that the dates for 'macro comp pics' works in a completely different way to 'monthly comp pics', as the later has confused some others with the need for pics to be taken within the competition month, and so I thought it worth clarifying it was different for macro competitions and making it clear that pics taken during the periods of earlier comps in the year could still be entered into, up to and including the last macro comp of the year.

                    For example, a macro pic taken in January can be entered in the current macro competition.
